In the 18th century Buda was an important center of wine making. Today, the wine growing region stretches south of Buda, with the small village of Etyek being one of the main wine producing areas. The climate is a little cooler here, which favors the production of white wines. The region is famous for making sparkling wines. The best-known products on the market are the Törley champagnes. Fresh, fragrant and elegant white wines are also produced here with increasing success.
Etyek is one of the main wine producing areas of the Etyek-Buda wine region, known primarily for its Chardonnay, Savignon Blanc and sparkling wine. There are many small, family owned wineries and cellar doors in Etyek and almost everyone in the village is connected to winemaking.
Due to its proximity to Budapest the Etyek-Buda Wine Region makes an ideal day trip. Enjoy a glass of bubbly from the famous Törley factory.
